Drastic Measures Site Themes
Taking inspiration from the CSS Zen Garden website, this site is built on a small number of templates which are controlled by a choice of CSS. This gives the visitor the facility to change the look of the site completely and enjoy different site designs created by Gray.
Following is a short description of each theme that is currently available. Please use the Site Themes menu to see the themes in action.
DM
This style is the basic style that is viewed by the site visitor the first time they view the site. The imagery is taken from photography by Gray of street lights taken with a slow-shutter speed from a fast-moving car (not whilst driving personally, needless to say.)
Flame
The Flame theme grew out of work done on the Drastic Measures logo that features at the top of the page.
GRAY
Originally, this style was to be the default style for the site, but it was decided that something a little more straight forward should be used for that. This style is based around the old-style NASA logo that Gray butchered for his own purposes. The feel is based around typed documents with yellowed and watermarked paper backgrounds and typewriter fonts.
Lights
Taken from slow-shutter-speed photos taken at a concert at the Manchester Evening News Arena by Canadian Prog legends Rush in 2004, this theme has high-contrast words to make the content presentable and readable whilst retaining the stylish layout of the theme.
Rock
What can be said about this? This theme is a tribute to those of us who have spent a weekend of the summer traipsing to Castle Donington for either the Monsters of Rock or the Download festivals. The photos were taken by Gray (apart from the one of Gray obviously) and collaged into this template background. Silly photographs aside, this layout stretches to the width of the browser window and the background flows behind it without distortion.
