ProgKaZoo Evolution
Gray Builds the Ultimo-ProgKaZoo (Chapter IV)
ProgKaZoo Quest: Day Four...
Saturday is here, Number One Son is in bed for his afternoon nap, so it's time for the continuing construction of the Ultimo-ProgKaZoos. Last night, the wiring was prepared with the new sockets (shiny metal one's this time) and new microphones. One of the mics suffered when the wire came off it's soldered joint, but I soldered it back together today and tested it out. Everything was fine and the mics were ready for attaching.
The first task was the shrinking of the heat shrink (awful stuff) and the taping up of the wires to give them a little more durability for when these things get whirled round our heads in a fit of rock and roll madness. This all worked fine and the testing went fine. Both mics were then ready for attaching to the kazoo bodies.
The wires were attached to the bodies in the usual way with the cable ties and black tape, leaving both units ready for the mics to be attached, which is where we left the contruction for the day.
Trying to find the best position and method for attaching the mics is the next step and I have some double-sided adhesive foam pads which I will trim down and use to stick the mics to the body. This should allow the good positioning of the mic above the sound-hole whilst not cutting off the air from the paper so we get a good sound from the ProgKaZoo. I'll use ProgKaZoo V2b for the testing of the mic attachment so I can get it right before finishing off the Ultimo-ProgKaZoos. Needless to say, the units should be ready for Saturday's big rehearsal... Rock on.
Before I attach the mics to the Ultimo-ProgKaZoos, I'll make some nice little badges to go on top of the mic to personalise and decorate the Ultimo-ProgKaZoos. I'll make mine proggy and Dickie's 'Heady, if you catch my drift...
The last thing I'll document later this week will be a step-by-step guide to building the Ultimo-ProgKaZoos and buying the parts. If I feel kind enough to go through it all, that is!
